Alice E Field
I have been making filet crochet pieces for 60 years. I find the process of knotting and building these pieces much more relaxing than sewing. Filet seems to be a dying art, but I love the process and have made everything from dollies to a bedspread for a hope chest.
I saw a filet crochet Lord’s Prayer at a friend’s church and wanted to make one for our congregational church in memory of my husband Edward. It is about 3X5 feet and when it was done, I couldn’t frame it. The church kindly framed it, and put on the memorial plaque. It was in the chorus loft for a number of years, but now hangs in the front of the church. The home sweet home piece, I thought was going to be much smaller but has turned out to be 3X 2 feet. Most of my works have been made as gifts, as I love to share.
