Louise Minks
Interesting color. Drama. Vibration. I find my work is always moving in these directions, whether it is plein air painting or documentary work. I have worked and painted in Leverett since 1973 and still find our wonderful Valley a prime source of ideas for my work with landscape and history. I often paint with others and have never felt the isolation of the studio that many artists describe. Just the opposite - I'm either teaching painting, working with artists in group activities, or just engaging in interesting and inspiring conversations with other artists. For several years, I worked out of a small studio in my barn at 78 N. Leverett Road, and in 1997, I rented my working studio and gallery at The Montague Mill and went into art as full time work. My motto is that I love what I do and do what I love.
