Nancy Emond
I work mostly with watercolor and sculpture. I appreciate watercolor because of the way the paint flows into wet paper. By combining hard and blurred edges, dark to light gradations, reflections and shadow, I find it easy to use water color in landscapes, portraits, and still life paintings. I sell both both originals and Giclee prints of my watercolors, either framed or unframed.
The prints are correct to density and color and I am very happy with the work I do in partnership with Ani Rivera at Valley Frameworks in Amherst. The Rattlesnake Gutter paintings on this page are available. There is actually a third painting to complete a trilogy, but space does not allow it here. And . . .
I find it particularly satisfying to get my hands into clay so I am sculpting figures: both human and animal! Some of the figures are stylized while others are more realistic. I am also experimenting with figures that are reminiscent of toys and literature of the 1950's. For those who remember, these figures found in the popular market are a little spooky. I hope to have some ready as holiday specials.
I enjoy painting pets or favorite vacation destination photos or house photos. This year I will be focusing donating a portion of the sale of my artwork to raise money for animal shelters and other local causes of your choice. I am currently setting up an account on Etsy which should be ready in September. Otherwise, I am available at 367-9535 or
nemond(at) admin.umass.edu and type "artwork" in the subject line.
